BITSAT Syllabus vs JEE Main Syllabus
No, the BITSAT syllabus and the JEE Main syllabus are different. The BITSAT syllabus overlaps with the JEE Main syllabus, but it is not the same.
Similarities:
- Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics topics are based on the NCERT 11th and 12th syllabus, just like JEE Main.
- Basic concepts in mechanics, electricity, magnetism, organic and inorganic chemistry, algebra, and calculus are included in both.
Differences:
- English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning are present only in BITSAT, not in JEE Main.
- BITSAT can have application-based problems or higher-order reasoning questions in Physics and Chemistry, which JEE Main does not emphasise as much.
- BITSAT is easier in terms of concepts but quicker-paced. JEE Main has more problem-solving and numerically intensive questions.
BITSAT Syllabus for B.Pharm Aspirants
Yes, there is a specific syllabus for B.Pharma, but it is mostly similar to the B.Tech/B.E syllabus. The only key difference is that Mathematics is replaced by Biology.
Physics, Chemistry, English, and Logical Reasoning remain the same. The total number of questions remains 130: Physics (30), Chemistry (30), Biology (40), English (10), and Logical Reasoning (20).
Importance of English and Logical Reasoning in BITSAT
In BITSAT 2026, English has 10 questions worth 30 marks, and Logical Reasoning has 20 questions worth 60 marks. Their combined weightage is 90 marks, which is around 23% of the total marks.
These sections are important because they are scoring and less time-consuming. They can improve your percentile.
BITSAT Preparation 2026
To prepare well, you need a thorough understanding of the syllabus, which covers six subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, English, and Logical Reasoning.
Divide the preparation plan into 3 phases. This helps in easy coverage of the syllabus and provides enough time to prepare.
- Phase 1 (Months 1–4): Builds NCERT-based concepts, notes, and light English and Reasoning practice. This is key for crossing 300+ marks.
BITSAT 2026 Preparation Strategy
BITSAT preparation is most effective when divided into three clear phases. Each phase has a specific goal, from building concepts to simulating the final exam.
Three-Phase Preparation Plan
The table below outlines the three phases of BITSAT preparation, their approximate timeframes, and the key tasks for each.
| Phase | Timeframe (approx) | Tasks / Actions |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1: Foundation & Conceptual Strength | ~Months 1 to 4 (or first 5–6 months) |
|
| Phase 2: Practice, Speed & Accuracy Drilling | After initial coverage for ~2 months before the exam |
|
| Phase 3: Simulation & Final Polish | Last 2–3 months (especially the last 1 month) |
|
In Phase 2, candidates who focus on speed and accuracy with timed tests, error logs, and weekly mocks often reach the 350+ range. This score matches cutoffs for top branches.
In Phase 3, aspirants who practice with frequent full mocks, daily formula revision, and simulated sessions and attempt 120+ questions usually cross 370+ (top 1–2%). This boosts chances for CSE at Pilani/Goa.

Is BITSAT easier than JEE?
BITSAT is comparatively easier than JEE Mains in terms of the difficulty level of questions asked and the competition level. Although the JEE Main and BITSAT syllabi are almost identical, JEE requires deeper conceptual understanding and application of formulas.
The level of questions asked in physics, chemistry, and mathematics in BITSAT is slightly easier and more direct than the JEE question paper.
BITSAT vs JEE Main Competition
BITSAT has fewer applicants than JEE Main. The number of students taking BITSAT is only 20% of those taking JEE Main.
- Around 3 lakh students apply for BITSAT every year.
- Around 15 lakh students apply for JEE Main.
- Competition for a seat through JEE Main is tougher.
Is BITSAT Easier Than NEET?
Both BITSAT and NEET are of moderate difficulty. Topic-wise weightage distribution varies slightly between the two exams.
Physics and Chemistry questions in BITSAT are more or less similar to JEE and NEET levels. For the biology section, which is for students opting for B.Pharm, NEET can be a good reference. Solving NEET papers can give an idea of the difficulty level of questions.

- 3 bonus questions are asked each from Physics, Chemistry, Maths/Biology, and Logical Reasoning.
- Attempting all 12 bonus questions can score an extra 36 marks.
- While attempting bonus questions, candidates cannot edit answers of the previous 130 questions.
- Candidates cannot choose more than 1 option as the correct answer.
The total number of questions, marking scheme, and sectional distribution remained unchanged. There is no time restriction on Parts in the BITSAT 2026 question paper.
Biology is included in the BITSAT 2026 question paper for BPharm admissions only.

Most students on Reddit noted that they found BITSAT difficult last year. Some students indicated that BITSAT was more difficult than the JEE Main examination.
BITSAT Section-Wise Difficulty (2025)
BITSAT 2025 had five sections. Mathematics carried the highest weightage at about 31% and was rated the hardest.
| Section | Weightage (% of Paper) | Difficulty Level (User Consensus, 2025) | Key User Quotes/Experiences |
|---|---|---|---|
| Physics | ~23% | Medium-Hard | "No questions too difficult if basics are known, but mixed concepts and lengthy." |
| Chemistry | ~23% | Medium (inorganic/organic heavy) | "Inorganic and Organic dominated; Physical barely there – felt scorable but shift-dependent." |
| Mathematics | ~31% | Hard | "Calculus overload; very different and tricky compared to mocks." |
| English Proficiency | ~8% | Easy | "Pretty chill; easy marks if prepared." |
| Logical Reasoning | ~15% | Medium-Hard | "More lengthy and non-obvious patterns than mocks." |
A Reddit discussion post for BITSAT Difficulty Analysis by "r/Bitsatards" noted, "BITSAT is more difficult than JEE Mains. Physics and chemistry levels same as JEE, but here you have to attempt 60 questions of that very same level with less time and more deadly negative marking."
Are BITSAT Question Paper Sets Different in Difficulty?
No, the question sets are designed to be comparable. As stated by BITS Pilani on the BITSAT official brochure, questions are selected randomly from a large question bank. Experts ensure that the question sets are of comparable difficulty level, content, and question type.

| Aspect | Details | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Correct Answer | +3 marks | "Each correct answer fetches 3 marks" (Official brochure, confirmed by students) |
| Incorrect Answer | -1 mark (Negative marking) | "more stringent -ve... if your accuracy is low, you're gone" (Reddit r/JEENEETards) |
| Unattempted Questions | 0 marks | "No marks deducted for unanswered questions" (Common advice: "better to skip than guess") |
| Total Questions (Main) | 130 | "130 questions, 3 hours, no sectional time" (Student discussions) |

How Does the Marking Scheme Affect Guessing?
In BITSAT, you get 3 marks for each correct answer and -1 mark for each incorrect answer. Blind guessing can reduce your net score because of negative marking.
- Eliminating 1-2 options based on educated guessing can be beneficial.
- It is better to leave a question unattempted instead of guessing blindly.
Focus on option elimination and quick decision-making while preparing for BITSAT 2026.
