KEAM Passing Marks

The KEAM passing marks determine eligibility for rank lists, counselling, and seat allotment. There are no fixed passing marks in KEAM, but candidates must meet a minimum criterion.

What are the KEAM passing marks?

Candidates must score at least 10 marks in each paper to be considered for the rank list. The criteria are as follows:

  • Candidates must score at least 10 marks in each paper (Paper 1: Physics & Chemistry, Paper 2: Mathematics) to be considered for the rank list.
  • Scoring less than 10 marks in any paper means the result will not be included in the engineering rank list. SC/ST candidates are exempted from this marking scheme.
  • If the minimum mark criteria are met, Class 12 PCM marks will affect whether the candidate is in the rank list or not.

What are the qualifying marks for KEAM?

The qualifying marks for KEAM vary by category. The details are given below.

Candidate Category Minimum Marks per Paper (Expected) Rank List Eligibility
General/OBC 10 marks each in Paper I & II Yes, if the criteria are met
SC/ST No minimum required Yes
PwD Same as category criteria Yes

KEAM Good Score

A good score in the KEAM exam depends on the branch and category. Engineering branches like CSE, ECE, and EE require a higher score for admission, while the score requirement for Pharmacy is low.

Good Score in KEAM 2025

The Engineering paper in KEAM carries 600 marks (Physics + Chemistry + Mathematics). An approximate good score for the top engineering courses is given below.

  • CSE in CET/Thrissur/MEC: 480+

The objection window for the answer key is open until May 3, 2025. Candidates can raise objections against any errors during this period.

How are KEAM Marks Calculated in 2025?

KEAM 2025 marks are calculated from two components. These are the entrance exam score and the normalised marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from the Class 12 board exams.

The two scores are combined in a 50:50 proportion to create the final rank list. This rank list is released along with the KEAM result.

Entrance Exam Score Calculation

The KEAM Engineering exam has two papers. Paper I covers Physics and Chemistry, and Paper II covers Mathematics.

Each paper has 120 marks, making the total 240 marks.

The scoring pattern is as follows:

  • +4 marks for each correct response
  • -1 mark for each wrong answer
  • 0 marks for unattempted questions

The formula for calculating the exam score is:

KEAM Entrance Score = (No. of Correct Answers × 4) - (No. of Incorrect Answers × 1)

Normalisation of Class 12 Marks

Marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are normalised across different boards. CEE Kerala uses a standard formula for this process.

Only marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are considered. Computer Science or Biology can be used in place of Chemistry if applicable.

The formula for normalising Class 12 marks is:

Normalised Marks = (Board Marks / Total Marks) × 300

Final KEAM 2025 Rank Calculation

The final KEAM score is calculated using a specific formula. It combines the entrance exam score and the normalised Class 12 marks.

The formula is:

Final KEAM Score = [(Entrance Marks / 240) × 300 + Normalized Class 12 Marks] / 2

Component Weightage Maximum Marks
KEAM Entrance Exam 50% 240
Normalised Class 12 PCM Marks 50% 300
Final Score (Scaled to 600) Combined 600

How to Check the KEAM Answer Key 2025

The CEE Kerala has released the KEAM 2025 answer key on the official website. Candidates can download the provisional answer key for Paper I and Paper II to estimate their scores before the result is announced.

Objections to the answer key can be filed until May 3, 2025.
