Common Questions on MBOSE Class 10 Syllabus 2026

Will MBOSE change the Class 10 syllabus content or delete chapters for 2026?

No major chapters are being removed for 2026; only a few subtopics may have been reduced in certain subjects. The core structure for Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English, and MIL remains intact, so students should prepare the full syllabus without skipping large units.

How do I know which chapters from the syllabus are most important for scoring well in exams?

You can identify high-priority chapters by looking at how MBOSE distributes marks in their blueprint (unit-wise or section-wise). Focus especially on high-weightage topics in Maths (like Algebra & Geometry), Science (especially Biology & Electricity), and Social Science (History + Geography). Practising these high-weightage chapters first can improve your board exam score.

Is the internal assessment (IA) in the MBOSE Class 10 syllabus tough to score?

Internal Assessment is manageable if you consistently complete your class assignments, projects, and class tests. Since IA contributes 20 marks, regular study and active participation in school activities can help you secure most of these marks without last-minute stress.

Meghalaya Class 10 Subject-Wise Blueprint 2026

The Meghalaya Board follows a fixed chapter-wise and unit-wise marks distribution for Class 10 exams. The blueprint divides marks across units in Mathematics and Science, and across sections in Social Science. English follows a literature + grammar + writing split, while MIL papers follow a literature-heavy distribution.

MBOSE Class 10 Blueprint Accuracy

The MBOSE blueprint gives a good estimate of mark distribution among units. However, students say it is not always 100% fixed.

Some topic-wise variation can happen in the actual question paper. The blueprint is a strong guide, but it should not be the only basis for skipping any chapter.

Ignoring Low-Weightage Chapters

Several students argue that relying solely on high-weightage units can backfire. Although some units carry more marks, questions from lower-weightage chapters still appear and can score.

It is safer to cover all chapters. You can prioritise heavier units during final revision.

Blueprint Stability Across Years

From past MBOSE blueprints, the overall structure appears quite stable. The board tends to maintain the same unit-wise division across years.

Exact mark splits or question-type patterns may shift slightly. Checking the latest official blueprint is always recommended.

Meghalaya Class 10 Question Paper Pattern

The Meghalaya Board follows a fixed structure for all Class 10 question papers. Each subject uses a predictable mix of short, medium and long questions.

The paper pattern is based entirely on the officially prescribed 2026 syllabus.

Subject Question Types Used
Mathematics Very Short Answers, Short Answers, Long Answers
Science Objective, Short Answers, Long Answers
Social Science Short Answers, Long Answers, Map Questions

Internal Assessment Structure 2026

The Meghalaya Board uses a fixed internal assessment system for Class 10. It is based on periodic tests, project work and practical components. Internal assessment carries 20 marks per subject and follows a standard pattern across all schools.

Component Marks Details
Periodic Test 10 One or two short written tests are conducted during the year
Assignment / Project Work 5 Subject-specific projects or written assignments
Class Attendance & Participation 5 Attendance record and classroom activity score

Ques. Can schools really give full 20/20 internal assessment marks?

Ans. Yes. Many students report that some schools do award the full 20 internal marks. This depends heavily on the school’s internal marking policy. Good performance in tests, projects and participation can make it possible.

Ques. What activities count toward the 20 internal marks?

Ans. Internal assessment typically includes a variety of tasks. These include written tests, project work or assignments, group or individual activities, quizzes, and class participation. MBOSE’s own guidelines list these as suggested components.

Ques. What if I get very low internal assessment marks? How can I pass?

Ans. If your internal marks are low, you still have a chance. You need to secure the minimum passing mark in internal + theory combined, as the passing criteria is 30% overall. Focus on doing well in class tests and assignments, since these contribute to the internal component.

Each major subject has 20 marks for internal assessment, but the evaluation method may vary. For Science, these 20 marks include practicals, projects, and experiments, while for languages and Social Science, they come from assignments, class tests, and participation.

Scoring Subjects

Students often find English and MIL subjects easier to score because internal assessments are straightforward and the theory portion is predictable. Mathematics and Science require consistent practice due to problem-solving and practical evaluations, while Social Science is easier if students revise all chapters thoroughly.

Meghalaya Class 10 Syllabus Prescribed Textbooks 2026

The Meghalaya Board uses officially approved textbooks for all Class 10 subjects, and these books form the only basis for the 2026 exam. Every subject follows a fixed textbook list released by MBOSE for the 2025–26 academic session.

Subject Textbook Name / Source
Mathematics MBOSE Class X Mathematics Textbook (Latest Edition)
Science MBOSE Science Textbook for Class X
Social Science Contemporary India, India & the Contemporary World – Part II, Democratic Politics, Understanding Economic Development
English Book I First Flight (Prose + Poems)
English Book II Footprints Without Feet
Grammar & Writing MBOSE Grammar + Writing Modules
MIL (Khasi / Garo / Assamese / Bengali / Hindi) One prescribed textbook per language

Textbook Changes for 2025-26

MBOSE has rationalised the English and Social Science textbooks for Classes 9 and 10 starting from the 2025 academic session. This means schools must use the revised set of books as per the board's updated syllabus.

The most reliable place to check the official textbook list is the MBOSE website, where syllabus and textbook notifications are published. The board's "Courses of Studies / Syllabus" section shows the approved Class 10 textbooks for all subjects.

While MBOSE has mandated the use of its own prescribed textbooks, the board has made NCERT textbooks (Meghalaya edition) mandatory for certain higher-class subjects. For Class 10, the board continues with its own textbook list for major subjects unless otherwise notified.

Pass Marks

To clear the Class 10 board exam under MBOSE, students need to secure a minimum of 30% in each subject. This includes both theory (80 marks) and internal assessment (20 marks).

MBOSE SSLC 2026 Scorecard Details

The MBOSE SSLC 2026 scorecard (marksheet) is your official Class 10 performance document. You will need it for Class 11 admission, scholarships, and various other purposes. Here is everything that appears on the MBOSE SSLC marksheet:

  • Student’s full name
  • Roll number and registration number
  • Date of birth
  • Father’s name and mother’s name
  • School name and school code
  • Subject names with marks in theory and practical (wherever applicable)
  • Total marks in each subject
  • Grade awarded per subject
  • Pass/Fail status in each subject
  • Overall aggregate marks and pass/fail status

The provisional marksheet downloaded from the official website is accepted for temporary admission purposes. Your school will hand over the original hard-copy marksheet once MBOSE dispatches the physical certificates.

If any detail on the scorecard — such as your name, date of birth, or subject marks — appears incorrect, report it to your school principal right away. The school will coordinate with MBOSE to get the error corrected before the original certificates are issued.

MBOSE SSLC Grading System 2026

MBOSE assigns letter grades to students based on the total marks scored in each subject. Grades cover theory and practical marks together — you do not get separate grades for each component. Here is the grading scale used for the MBOSE SSLC 2026 examination:

Grade Marks Range (%) Performance Description
A1 91 – 100 Outstanding
A2 81 – 90 Excellent
B1 71 – 80 Very Good
B2 61 – 70 Good
C1 51 – 60 Average
C2 41 – 50 Below Average
D 33 – 40 Pass
E Below 33 Fail

Getting a D grade (33–40%) means you have passed the subject — it is the minimum acceptable grade. An E grade means you have failed and will need to appear for a supplementary or repeat exam for that subject.

MBOSE SSLC Passing Marks 2026

To pass the MBOSE SSLC 2026 exam, you must clear the minimum passing marks in every subject individually. Scoring a high aggregate does not count if you fall below the pass mark in even one subject.

Examination Minimum Passing Marks
Main SSLC Exam (per subject) 33% of total marks in that subject
SSLC Supplementary Exam (per subject) 30% of total marks in that subject
Practical / Internal Assessment (where applicable) Minimum pass marks apply separately

If you fail in one or two subjects, you are eligible to sit for the SSLC Supplementary Exam. If you fail in three or more subjects, you will have to repeat Class 10 in the next academic year. The passing threshold for the supplementary exam (30%) is slightly lower than the main exam threshold (33%), giving you a slightly better chance to clear the outstanding subjects.

MBOSE SSLC Supplementary Exam 2026

MBOSE conducted the SSLC Supplementary Exam 2026 from May 1 to May 8, 2026, giving students who failed in one or two subjects a second chance to clear the Class 10 board. The supplementary result was declared on May 22, 2026, with a cumulative pass percentage of 90.16%.

Out of 5,615 students who appeared for the supplementary exam, 5,063 cleared it. Female students recorded a notably higher pass rate (94.11%) compared to male students (85.71%).

MBOSE SSLC Revaluation and Scrutiny 2026

If you feel your MBOSE SSLC marks do not reflect your actual performance, MBOSE gives you the option to apply for scrutiny or revaluation of your answer sheets. Here’s what each process involves:

  • Scrutiny: The board re-checks your answer sheet to ensure no answers were skipped during evaluation and all marks are correctly totalled. This is not a re-evaluation of your answers — it only checks for counting or transfer errors.
  • Revaluation: A qualified examiner evaluates your answers from scratch. Your marks can go up, stay the same, or go down based on the fresh evaluation. The revised marks replace your original score.

To apply, submit a request through your school within the deadline set by MBOSE after result declaration. A fee is charged per subject for both options. MBOSE announces the scrutiny and revaluation schedule on its official website after the result is out.

Keep checking mbose.in for the official notification on scrutiny/revaluation timelines, application form, and fee structure.

What to Do After MBOSE SSLC Result 2026

Your MBOSE SSLC 2026 result opens the door to the next phase of your academic journey. Here’s what you should do depending on your outcome.

What to Do After the MBOSE SSLC Result

If You Passed the Main Exam

You can apply for Class 11 (HSSLC) in a school of your choice in Meghalaya or any other state. Choose your stream — Science, Commerce, or Arts — based on your marks and career interests.

  • Keep the provisional marksheet ready for admission. Your school will give you the original hard copy later.
  • Check if you qualify for state or central merit-based scholarships. Several schemes are open to Class 10 pass students.
  • If you want to take a vocational or ITI course instead, check the admission window and eligibility for those programmes.

If You Cleared the Supplementary Exam

Your supplementary marksheet carries the same validity as the main exam marksheet for admissions. Some institutions ask for both the main and supplementary marksheets, so keep both in hand.

  • Look for schools that still have open seats in the late-admission window for Class 11.

If You Did Not Pass Even After the Supplementary Exam

Apply for revaluation if you believe your answer sheet has errors. Otherwise, plan to repeat the failed subjects or the full Class 10 year in the next session.

  • Use the extra time to strengthen weak areas so your next attempt gives better results.
