Mizoram Board

Class-12-exams UG Offline
event March 2026

The Mizoram Board of School Education, referred to here as Mizoram Board, is a state school examination board, not an entrance examination. It conducts the Class 10 and Class 12 public examinations for schools affiliated to it in Mizoram, prescribes their curriculum and syllabus, registers candidates, holds the examinations, evaluates answer scripts and issues mark statements and certificates. These are qualifying board examinations that certify the completion of secondary and higher secondary schooling. They do not select candidates for admission to a professional course on their own. Student

Overview expand_more
The board sets papers in the arts, science and commerce streams at the Class 12 level and in the standard school subjects at the Class 10 level, publishes syllabi and question paper designs, and conducts the examinations at centres across the state on a published schedule. It also handles registration of schools, internal assessment and practical examinations where prescribed, evaluation, publication of results, re-checking and re-evaluation requests, compartment or supplementary examinations for candidates who do not clear a subject, and the issue of migration and other certificates. Its certificates are recognised for higher education admission across the country. Streams and subject combinations chosen at the higher secondary level determine which courses a student can later apply to, which is why the board result matters for admission even though it is not itself a selection test. The board notification and its official website carry the syllabus, date sheet and result information for each session.
Eligibility expand_more
Candidates appear through schools affiliated to the board. For the Class 12 examination a student must have completed Class 11 and been promoted in a school recognised by the board, and must have registered with the board through that school within the stated period, with the required attendance and internal assessment completed. For the Class 10 examination a student must have completed Class 9 in a recognised school and been registered similarly. Private or external candidates are admitted only where the board rules allow it. The minimum marks required to pass, the rules on compartment and improvement attempts, attendance conditions and registration deadlines are laid down in the board regulations and in the notification issued for that session.

The commission has set eligibility criteria for the compartment exam. These rules apply to students who fail in the board examination.

  • The student should have failed in just one subject and not more.
  • The student must have qualified in all internally assisted tests conducted by the school management with at least the minimum passing percentile.

Additional Subjects and Marking Scheme

  • The board does not take into account excess marks secured in additional subjects when determining rank and division.
  • The board ensures that a minimum percentile of 33% is enough in the additional subjects.
