Overall Exam Review

The CBSE Class 10 Board Exams 2026 are currently ongoing across India. Major subjects like English, Mathematics and Hindi have already been conducted, while subjects like Social Science and Elements of Book Keeping & Accountancy are still remaining.

Student feedback suggests the overall difficulty level has been easy to moderate. Most questions were based directly on the NCERT syllabus.

  • Experts observed a stronger focus on competency-based, case-study, and application-oriented questions, in line with CBSE’s latest exam pattern.
  • The Mathematics paper was considered moderate, with some sections being slightly lengthy and requiring good time management.
  • The English paper was widely rated as easy and scoring, boosting student confidence early in the exam schedule.

Experts believe this year’s exams are fair, NCERT-focused, and designed to test real conceptual understanding rather than memorization.

How to Calculate CGPA in CBSE Class 10 Result

CGPA stands for Cumulative Grade Point Average. It is the average of the grade points a student gets in all subjects, calculated on a scale of 10.

Follow these steps to calculate the CGPA from the CBSE Class 10 Result:

  • Add the grade points from all subjects in the final exams, excluding additional subjects.
  • Divide the total grade points by the number of subjects.
  • The result of this division is the CGPA.

Here is an example of a student's grades and grade points in the Class 10 final exams:

Subject Grade Grade points
1 A1 10
2 A2 9
3 B1 8
4 B2 7
5 A1 10
6 B2 7
7 B1 8
8 A2 9
  • The total grade points for all subjects (excluding additional subjects) is: 10+9+8+7+10+7+8+9 = 68.
  • The number of subjects in this case is 8.
  • The CGPA is calculated as: 68/8 = 8.5.
  • So, the student's CGPA is 8.5 on a scale of 10.

What is a Good Percentage in Class 10 CBSE Board?

The percentage between 70% - 80% is considered a good percentage in Class 10 CBSE Board. Students scoring in this range can get streams like Commerce, Humanities, and some Science specializations, and will have many educational opportunities. A good percentage is generally defined by a student’s goals and future educational career.

Understanding the Percentage System in CBSE Class 10

The CBSE uses a grading system to evaluate Class 10 students. The percentage reflects the marks obtained out of 500 in five subjects.

Percentage Grade
90% and above A1 (Excellent)
80% to 89% A2 (Very Good)
70% to 79% B1 (Good)
60% to 69% B2 (Above Average)
50% to 59% C1 (Average)
40% to 49% C2 (Below Average)
Below 40% D (Fail)

How to Calculate Percentage from CBSE Class 10 CGPA

CBSE will not provide aggregate marks or division on the CBSE Class 10 Result 2025. The percentage can be calculated using subject-wise marks.

There are 5 main subjects in the CBSE Class 10 Results. Add the marks obtained in each subject and divide the total by the aggregate marks for all 5 subjects (in this case, 500, with 100 marks per subject).

For example, the marks obtained in 5 subjects are:

  • Subject 1 – 95
  • Subject 2 – 82
  • Subject 3 – 90
  • Subject 4 – 92
  • Subject 5 – 85

The total of these marks is 444. Divide this sum by 500 to obtain a decimal number.

444/500 = 0.888

Convert this decimal to a percentage by multiplying it by 100.

0.888 × 100 = 88.8%

How to Convert CBSE 10th Result CGPA into Percentage

  • To get the percentage from the CGPA, multiply it by 9.5.
  • For instance, multiply a CGPA of 8 by 9.5 to get 8 x 9.5 = 76%.

Note: This formula is applicable only for CBSE Class 10, as the CGPA is calculated on a scale of 10 in CBSE. For other boards that use a different CGPA scale, the formula to convert CGPA into percentages may differ.

CBSE Class 10 Passing Marks 2025

CBSE Class 10 Passing Marks

The passing marks for CBSE Class 10 Exam 2025 are 33% marks in each subject. A student must score a minimum of 33 marks out of 100 in each subject to pass the class 10 board exams.

For subjects with practical work, a candidate must obtain 33% marks in the theory and 33% marks in the practical separately. The candidate must also secure 33% marks in aggregate to qualify in that subject.

CBSE 10th Total Marks

The CBSE 10th total marks are 500. There are 5 main subjects in CBSE, each carrying 100 marks.

If a student opts for an additional subject, the final percentage is calculated using the best 5 subjects. Therefore, CBSE 10th total marks remain 500 even with additional subjects.

The final percentage is calculated by adding the marks obtained in the main 5 subjects and dividing the sum by 500. The resulting decimal number is then multiplied by 100 to get the percentage.

CBSE Class 10 Grading System

For awarding grades, the Board puts all passed students in rank order. Grades are awarded based on this rank order.
