Central Seat Allocation Board counselling, usually called CSAB counselling, is a centralised seat allotment process for engineering and technology admissions in India, not an entrance examination. The process runs in successive rounds after the main national counselling has finished. Seats are then allotted on the basis of the candidate's rank in the national joint entrance examination, the category claimed, the choices submitted and the seats still available. A candidate who accepts an allotment pays the seat acceptance fee and completes online or physical document verification, and may retain the seat as a freeze or continue in later rounds through float or slide options, as permitted by the rules notified for that year. The process covers vacant seats in centrally funded technical institutions and specified supernumerary quotas. Reservation, defence and person with disability provisions are applied according to government norms stated in the business rules for the cycle.

To take part, a candidate must have appeared in and qualified the national joint entrance examination at the main level for that year and must hold a valid rank in it, since allotment is made strictly from that rank list. The candidate must also satisfy the academic conditions prescribed for admission to the participating institutions, which include passing Class 12 or an equivalent examination with the science subject combination required for engineering, and any minimum performance in the qualifying examination laid down by the admitting authority. Candidates claiming a supernumerary or reserved category seat must produce the certificates prescribed for that category during verification.
