GBSHSE Marking Scheme 2027

GBSHSE Class X Marking Scheme 2027

The GBSHSE Class X marking scheme 2027 gives marks for each correct response. There is zero deduction for wrong or unattempted answers.

Theory papers include objective questions (1 mark each), short answer questions (2–3 marks each), and long answer questions (4–5 marks each). The 20-mark internal assessment is awarded by the school based on academic performance across the year.

Question Type Marks per Question Marks for Correct Answer Marks for Wrong / Unattempted Answer

Partial or step marks apply to short and long answer questions in all subjects. In Mathematics, marks are earned for each correct step in the working even when the final numerical answer is wrong, so full working should always be shown.

GBSHSE Class X Subject-Wise Exam Pattern 2027

All GBSHSE SSC 2027 papers share the same 80-mark theory plus 20-mark internal structure. Each subject has a distinct internal section breakdown.

How to Prepare Based on GBSHSE Class X Exam Pattern

Preparation for GBSHSE Class X 2027 should follow the exam's question type distribution and the theory plus internal assessment marking scheme. The tips below come directly from the pattern.

  1. Prioritise the objective section across all subjects. Every paper opens with MCQs, fill-in-the-blanks, true/false, and match-the-columns questions. Each is worth 1 mark and can be answered in under a minute. Build strong recall of terms, dates, formulae, and definitions to secure this section quickly and save time for descriptive answers.
  2. Always show full working in Mathematics. The Maths paper awards step marks — credit is given for each correct step even when the final answer is wrong. Practise solving Algebra and Geometry problems by writing every step clearly. A half-solved problem earns more than an unsupported answer.
  3. Choose your Mathematics level wisely. If you plan to take Mathematics, Science, or Commerce in Class XI, opt for Standard Mathematics (Level I). If you do not plan to study Mathematics beyond Class X, Basic Mathematics (Level II) has fewer abstract proof-based questions and may be easier to score in — but it restricts your stream choices in Class XI.
  4. Practice map work for Geography every week. The Geography paper reserves approximately 20 marks for map-based questions — features to identify and mark on the India map. These are reliable scoring marks that reward regular, repeated practice rather than last-minute revision.
  5. Maximise your internal assessment marks. The 20 marks per subject earned through school-based periodic tests, projects, and assignments are under your control throughout the academic year. Submitting projects on time, preparing well for unit tests, and maintaining good participation directly boosts your final percentage.
  6. Attempt every question — there is no negative marking. Since wrong and unattempted answers both earn zero, there is nothing to lose by writing something. For long answers you are unsure about, write whatever points you know — partial marks are awarded for each correct point or step mentioned.
  7. Solve previous years' GBSHSE SSC question papers. The Goa Board's question style, section structure, and difficulty level remain consistent across years. Solving the last 4–5 years of question papers under timed, 3-hour conditions gives the clearest insight into what to expect in 2027 and helps calibrate time management per section.

GBSHSE Class X 2027 Preparation Tips

Scoring well in GBSHSE Class X 2027 requires subject-specific strategies alongside consistent daily study. The following tips are organised by subject to help you focus your effort effectively.

    Mathematics

    • Complete every NCERT exercise without skipping — board questions follow NCERT patterns closely, and practising all examples builds the required problem-solving fluency.
    • Focus maximum time on Algebra (Quadratic Equations, Arithmetic Progressions) and Geometry (Triangles, Circles) — these two units together carry approximately 35 marks in the theory paper.
    • Practice Trigonometry identities and Heights-and-Distances problems daily; standard questions repeat across years with small variations.
    • For Constructions, practice ruler-and-compass constructions with neat diagrams — the examiner awards marks for accuracy of diagram, not just the final result.
    • Solve at least three previous year GBSHSE Class X Mathematics papers under timed conditions before the March 2027 examination.

    Science

    • Start preparation with Chemistry — it rewards factual recall, and questions on chemical equations, the pH scale, and the Reactivity Series appear every year.
    • For Physics, write out derivations and numerical formulas regularly. Electricity and Optics are the highest-scoring Physics chapters; practice circuit problems and mirror/lens formula numericals.
    • Draw and label diagrams accurately for Biology — the Human Eye, Neuron, Cross-section of Leaf (for Photosynthesis), Heart, and Nephron can each earn 3–5 marks in the examination.
    • Solve all NCERT in-text questions and back-exercise questions at least twice — they directly predict the board exam question pattern.
    • Prepare Science practical activities alongside theory; practical marks contribute 20 marks to your final Science score.

    Social Science

    Subject-wise Preparation Strategy

    Social Science

    • For History, focus on understanding the sequence and causes of events instead of memorising dates. Connect chapters — the Nationalism unit links the French Revolution, Indian movements, and industrialisation into one narrative.
    • Map work in Geography carries dedicated marks every year — practice marking rivers, states, crop zones, mineral deposits, and National Highways on a blank India outline map.
    • For Political Science, understand key concepts (Federalism, Power Sharing, Secularism) with real Indian examples. Goa-related examples add relevance and often earn extra marks.
    • Economics chapters are concise. Consumer Rights and Globalisation questions are direct and score well with structured definitions and examples.
    • Write Social Science answers in a structured format using headings, sub-headings, and bullet points — this improves readability and marks in 5-mark descriptive questions.

    English

    • Read all prescribed prose chapters and poems carefully — questions are text-specific, and a thorough reading of each chapter is the most important preparation step.
    • Practice grammar exercises (Tenses, Voice, Narration) daily from a dedicated workbook; grammar sections carry predictable, high-scoring marks.
    • For writing tasks, memorise the correct format (Letter, Notice, Report, Article) — format marks are awarded independently of content quality.
    • Read one page of an English newspaper daily to build vocabulary and reading speed for comprehension passages.

    General Knowledge

    • Follow a monthly current affairs digest or news summary throughout the 2026–27 academic year — GK questions draw from events during this period.
    • Pay special attention to Goa-specific events, Goa Liberation Day, Goa Chief Ministers, and state government schemes — these are high-probability questions in the GBSHSE GK paper.
    • Revise national symbols, Constitution basics, and important Indian personalities once every month to keep this content fresh.

GBSHSE Class X 2027: Passing Marks

To pass the GBSHSE Class X exam, you need to score at least 33% marks in each subject individually. This applies to every paper — languages, mathematics, science, social science, and third language. Where a subject has both theory and practical components, you must clear each one separately. Scoring well in theory will not compensate for falling short in the practical, and vice versa.

Paper Type Maximum Marks Minimum Pass Marks
Theory — Languages / Social Science 80 26
Theory — Mathematics / Science 65 21
Theory — Third Language 40 13
Practical (30-mark papers) 30 12
Practical (20-mark papers) 20 7

A student who scores below the minimum in even one subject is placed in the "Needs Improvement" category and is not considered to have fully passed. Those students can appear in the supplementary exam to clear the outstanding subject. Verify the exact subject-wise minimum marks for 2027 on gbshse.in once the official marking scheme is released.

Minimum Percentage to Pass

At least 33% marks in each subject individually is required to pass. There is no minimum aggregate percentage requirement — passing in every individual subject is what counts. Both theory and practical components must be cleared separately in subjects that have both.

GBSHSE Class X 2027: Grading System

GBSHSE uses a graded marking system for the Class X result. Each subject is assigned a grade based on the percentage of marks scored. You need at least Grade G in every subject to be considered passing. Grades H and I indicate that you have not met the passing threshold in that subject.

GBSHSE Class X Grading System

The GBSHSE Class X exam uses a grading system from A to I. Grades A to F are passing grades, while grades G, H, and I have specific rules.

Grade Marks Range Description Pass / Fail
A to F Above 40% Good to Outstanding Pass
G 33% – 40% Fair Pass (Minimum)
H 21% – 32% Marginal Needs Improvement (Fail)
I Below 21% Unsatisfactory Fail

Grade G is the lowest passing grade. A student who receives Grade H in any subject is placed in the "Needs Improvement" category and must appear in the supplementary exam for that subject. Students who receive Grade I must also appear in the supplementary exam. The complete grade descriptors for all grades are available on gbshse.in.

GBSHSE Class X 2027: Grace Marks

GBSHSE has a grace marks policy for students who are a few marks short of passing in one or more subjects. The policy applies to the Class X exam in specific conditions.

  • Grace marks can be awarded in a maximum of 3 subjects only.
  • Students who have failed in more than 3 subjects are not eligible for grace marks.
  • Grace marks apply only when all other subjects have been passed, except the ones where grace is being sought.
  • The policy is meant for borderline students, not for those with widespread underperformance.

The exact number of grace marks per subject depends on GBSHSE’s policy for the 2027 exam year. Check the official notification on gbshse.in once it is released, typically before the exam begins. Grace marks are applied automatically by the board — no separate application is needed.

GBSHSE Class X 2027: Supplementary Exam

Students who do not fully pass the GBSHSE Class X exam 2027 can appear in the supplementary (compartment) exam. Based on previous years, this exam is held in June — typically 6 to 8 weeks after the main result is declared. Clearing the supplementary exam allows a student to move to Class XI admissions.

Students in any of these categories can appear in the supplementary exam:

  • Received Grade H (21–32%) in one or more subjects — "Needs Improvement" status
  • Received Grade I (below 21%) in any subject
  • Has ATKT (Allow Keep Term) status
  • Missed or withdrew from one or more papers in the main exam

To apply, download the application form from gbshse.in (Students → Application Forms), fill it in, and submit it at the school along with the required fee. The supplementary result is usually declared within a few weeks of the exam. In 2026, the GBSHSE SSC supplementary exam started on June 6. For 2027, a similar timeline is expected — look out for the official notice on gbshse.in after the main result is declared.

Who is eligible for the GBSHSE Class X supplementary exam 2027?

Students who received Grade H or Grade I in one or more subjects, students with ATKT status, and students who missed or withdrew from any paper in the main exam are eligible. The supplementary exam is typically held in June — about 6 to 8 weeks after the main result. Apply through the school using the form available on gbshse.in.

GBSHSE Class X 2027: Re-evaluation and Verification

GBSHSE allows students to apply for re-evaluation or mark verification after the result is declared. The application window is short — usually 1 to 2 weeks after the result — so action must be quick.

Service Fee (Based on 2026 Rates) Deadline (2027 Expected)
Mark Verification ₹100 per subject ~1 week after result declaration
Photocopy of Answer Sheet ₹350 per subject ~1–2 weeks after result declaration
Re-evaluation ₹700 per subject ~2 weeks after result declaration

Apply through the school or directly via gbshse.in. In 2026, the mark verification deadline was May 2 and the re-evaluation deadline was May 11 — both within about two weeks of the April 26 result. A similar window is expected for 2027. Once the re-evaluation process is complete, GBSHSE will send the updated result to the school. If marks improve after re-evaluation, the marksheet will be revised accordingly. Fees and deadlines for 2027 will be confirmed in the official notification on gbshse.in after the result is declared.

What After GBSHSE Class X Result 2027?

What a student does after the GBSHSE Class X Result 2027 depends on the result. There are two paths.

If the student has passed:

  • Apply for Class XI admission at government or private higher secondary schools in Goa. Most schools start admissions shortly after the result.
  • Choose a stream — Science, Commerce, or Arts — based on Class X marks and interests.
  • Some institutions also accept Goa Board Class X results for vocational courses and diploma programmes.
  • Keep the following documents ready for admissions: original marksheet, admit card, school leaving certificate, and Aadhaar card.

If the student is in the "Needs Improvement" category:

Steps After the GBSHSE Class X Result

Apply for the supplementary exam as soon as the application window opens on gbshse.in. Focus preparation on the subjects where Grade H or Grade I was received.

After clearing the supplementary exam, Class XI admissions can be proceeded with. Most schools hold seats for supplementary-exam students.

Mark Verification and Re-evaluation

Apply for mark verification or re-evaluation to check or challenge marks. The deadline is usually within 2 weeks of the result.

  • Mark verification: ₹100 per subject
  • Re-evaluation: ₹700 per subject

If re-evaluation improves marks to a passing level, the result status will be updated accordingly.

Toppers List

GBSHSE does not release a toppers list with its Class X results. The board publishes overall statistics such as total pass percentage and gender-wise data, but does not name individual high scorers in official communications.
