| Total | — | — | — | — | 500 marks | 15 hours (total across all papers) |
Fill the Section A OMR sheet using a blue or black ballpoint pen only. Do not use a pencil, gel pen, or sketch pen, as OMR sheets marked with unapproved instruments are liable to be rejected.
Science is the only subject with a 30-mark practical examination. A candidate must clear this separately with at least 33% marks alongside the theory paper.
UP Board Class 10 Marking Scheme 2027
The marking scheme for each subject is fixed. Section A has 20 MCQs worth 1 mark each, and Section B has descriptive questions worth the remaining theory marks.
There is no negative marking in the exam. The total marks for each subject are 100, combining theory and internal assessment or practical marks.
UP Board Class 10 Marking Scheme 2027
There is no negative marking in the UP Board Class 10 exam 2027. Attempting every question is the best way to maximise the total score.
For Section A, each correct MCQ earns +1 mark. A wrong or unattempted MCQ scores zero. For Section B descriptive questions, examiners award marks based on accuracy, completeness, and presentation. Partial marks are possible for partially correct responses.
| Question Type | Marks for Correct Answer | Marks for Wrong Answer | Marks for Unattempted |
|---|---|---|---|
| MCQ / Objective — Section A | +1 mark | 0 (No negative marking) | 0 |
| Very Short Answer — Section B | As per question marks (1–2 marks each) | Partial marks may apply | 0 |
| Short Answer — Section B | As per question marks (4–6 marks each) | Partial marks may apply | 0 |
| Long Answer / Essay Type — Section B | As per question marks (7–10 marks each) | Partial marks may apply | 0 |

| Internal Assessment (all subjects except Science) | 20 or 30 marks (varies by subject) | N/A | N/A |
For long-answer and essay-type questions in subjects like Hindi, Social Science, and Science, examiners reward structured answers with key points in the correct sequence. Good handwriting and neat presentation can improve the impression on the examiner, especially for subjective papers.
UP Board Class 10 Subject-Wise Exam Pattern 2027
Each of the 5 compulsory subjects has its own pattern for theory marks, internal assessment or practical marks, and section-wise question distribution. The detailed breakdown per subject is given below.
Hindi (First Language)
Hindi is mandatory for all UP Board Class 10 students. The 80-mark theory paper is divided into MCQ and four descriptive parts covering comprehension, grammar, writing, and literature. A further 20 marks come from school-based internal assessment.
| Section / Part | Components | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Section A (MCQ) | 20 Objective Questions (1 mark each) — OMR sheet | 20 |
| Section B — Part I | Reading Comprehension and Unseen Passages | 15 |
| Section B — Part II | Hindi Grammar and Applied Language | 15 |
| Section B — Part III | Writing and Composition (Essay, Letter, Application) | 25 |

| Internal Assessment | School-Based Periodic Tests and Projects | 20 |
| Total | — | 100 |
Second Language (Sanskrit / English / Urdu)
One second language is chosen from options approved by UPMSP — most commonly Sanskrit, English, or Urdu. The paper pattern mirrors the Hindi structure: 80 marks theory (20 MCQ + 60 descriptive) and 20 marks internal assessment. Sections cover grammar, reading comprehension, writing, and prescribed textbook literature.
| Section / Component | Details | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Section A (MCQ) | 20 Objective Questions (1 mark each) — OMR sheet | 20 |
| Section B (Descriptive) | Grammar, Reading, Writing, and Literature questions | 60 |
| Internal Assessment | School-Based Periodic Tests and Projects | 20 |
| Total | — | 100 |
Mathematics
Mathematics carries a 70-mark theory paper and 30 marks for internal assessment — giving internal marks a higher weight than in language subjects. The theory paper has 20 MCQ questions (20 marks) and 50 marks of descriptive problems covering algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, and mensuration from the UPMSP Class 10 syllabus.
| Section / Component | Details | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Section A (MCQ) | 20 Objective Questions (1 mark each) — OMR sheet | 20 |
| Section B (Descriptive) | Very Short, Short, and Long Answer Problems | 50 |
| Internal Assessment | School-Based Periodic Tests and Assignments | 30 |
| Total | — | 100 |
Science
Science has a 70-mark theory paper and a 30-mark practical examination. The practical component is based on lab performance and carries up to 30 marks.
The theory paper includes 20 MCQ questions (20 marks) and 50 marks of descriptive questions. The descriptive section covers physics, chemistry, and biology topics from the UPMSP Class 10 syllabus.
| Section / Component | Details | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Section A (MCQ) | 20 Objective Questions (1 mark each) — OMR sheet | 20 |

UP Board Class 10 Science Exam Pattern
The Science paper has a 70-mark theory component and a separate 30-mark practical examination. The theory covers Physics, Chemistry, and Biology topics from the prescribed UPMSP syllabus.
The 30-mark practical tests the ability to perform and record lab experiments. A candidate must pass both the theory and practical components independently. A strong practical score cannot compensate for failing the theory.
| Section / Component | Details | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Section A (MCQ) | 20 Objective Questions (1 mark each) — OMR sheet | 20 |
| Section B (Descriptive) | Very Short, Short, and Long Answer Questions (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) | 50 |
| Practical Examination | Lab-Based Experiments, Observations, and Practical Record | 30 |
| Total | — | 100 |
UP Board Class 10 Social Science Exam Pattern
Social Science covers History, Geography, Civics (Political Science), and Economics in an integrated paper. The 80-mark theory paper follows the same MCQ plus descriptive format as language subjects, with 20 marks from internal assessment.
Long-answer questions in this subject often require drawing maps, explaining historical events, or analysing socio-economic issues in detail.
| Section / Component | Details | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Section A (MCQ) | 20 Objective Questions (1 mark each) — OMR sheet | 20 |
| Section B (Descriptive) | Very Short, Short, and Long Answer Questions covering History, Geography, Civics, and Economics | 60 |

| Total | — | 100 |
UP Board Class 10 Question Types 2027
The UP Board Class 10 2027 paper uses a hybrid format combining objective MCQs and written descriptive questions. Each question type tests a different aspect of subject knowledge, from quick factual recall through MCQs to analytical depth through long answers.
At least 40% of all questions are competency-based, requiring application rather than memorisation.
| Question Type | Section | Count per Subject Paper | Marks per Question | Mode of Answer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) | Section A | 20 | 1 mark each | OMR sheet — darken the correct circle with a blue or black ballpoint pen |
| Very Short Answer Questions | Section B | Varies by subject | 1–2 marks each | Written in answer booklet — 1–2 sentence responses |
| Short Answer Questions | Section B | Varies by subject | 4–6 marks each | Written in answer booklet — structured paragraph responses |
| Long Answer / Essay Type Questions | Section B | Varies by subject | 7–10 marks each | Written in answer booklet — detailed, organised responses with examples |
| Competency-Based Questions | Section A & Section B | Minimum 40% of total paper | Varies | Both OMR (MCQ) and written booklet (descriptive) |
- MCQs (Section A) test single-correct factual and conceptual knowledge. One wrong bubble on the OMR sheet cannot be corrected, so be sure before darkening.
- Very Short Answer questions expect precise one-line definitions, values, or formulae. Avoid writing unnecessary extra content.
- Short Answer questions need structured 3–5 sentence responses with key points, examples, or steps clearly presented.
- Long Answer questions demand complete, well-organised essays or explanations. This applies especially in Hindi (compositions), Social Science (historical analysis), and Science (process descriptions with diagrams).
- Competency-based questions appear in both sections and require applying or analysing knowledge in unfamiliar real-world contexts. These have been mandatory in UPMSP papers since 2023 and carry at least 40% of the total marks.
UP Board Class 10 Exam Pattern: Changes in 2027 vs Previous Year

The unchanged elements include offline mode, 20-MCQ OMR-based Section A, descriptive Section B, no negative marking, and the 40% competency-based question mandate.

How to Prepare Based on UP Board Class 10 Exam Pattern
Your preparation for UP Board Class 10 2027 should be directly shaped by the exam's structure. The key elements are the 20-mark MCQ block per subject, the heavy weightage of descriptive Section B, the 40% competency-based question requirement, and the separate pass criteria for practical and internal assessment marks.
- Target all 20 MCQ marks per subject through focused chapter-level revision: Section A is your most time-efficient scoring block — 20 marks in roughly 20–25 minutes if you are well-prepared. Revise definitions, formulae, dates, and key facts from every chapter so you can answer MCQs with confidence and speed.
- Practise filling OMR sheets under timed exam conditions: Section A answers go on a separate OMR sheet and errors — double-marking, incomplete darkening, or using a pencil — cannot be corrected. Run at least 5–10 full OMR mock tests before the exam so the process is automatic on exam day.
- Prepare application-based answers to cover the 40% competency-based question requirement: UPMSP mandates that at least 40% of all questions test application and analysis, not recall. Solve scenario-based questions from UPMSP model papers and NCERT examples; practise explaining concepts in your own words rather than reproducing text verbatim.
- Divide your 3-hour paper time deliberately between sections: A practical approach for most subjects is to spend 25–30 minutes on Section A (MCQ) and the remaining 2 hours 30 minutes on Section B (descriptive). For Mathematics, budget extra time per long-answer problem and avoid spending more than 10 minutes on any single descriptive question before moving on.
- Secure Science practical marks through consistent lab attendance all year: The 30-mark practical is awarded by your school based on experiment performance, lab records, and attendance — not just a single exam day. Maintain a neat practical notebook, understand each experiment's aim, procedure, and observation table, and keep your record book submitted on time.
- Treat internal assessment marks as guaranteed marks you cannot afford to lose: Internal assessment contributes 20–30 marks per subject and is entirely within your control throughout the school year. Regular attendance, timely project submission, and serious performance in periodic tests directly protect these marks.
- Use UP Board Class 10 previous years' papers (2023–2026) as the backbone of your revision: The question types, marks distribution, and difficulty level are highly consistent across years. Solving past papers shows you which topics recur, what a full-marks long answer looks like, and how much to write per question — insight no textbook alone can give you.

Highest Pass Percentage in Recent Years
Among 2022 to 2026, the highest pass percentage was 90.42% in 2026. The 2021 exam recorded an exceptionally high 99.53% pass rate due to the COVID-19 special evaluation policy.
That 2021 figure is not representative of a normal exam cycle.
How to Check UP Board Class X Result 2027
UPMSP will activate the result link on upmsp.edu.in and upresults.nic.in on result day. Both portals tend to get heavy traffic when the result is released — if one is slow, try the other.
You only need your roll number, which is printed on your admit card, to access the result. Here are all five methods.
Method 1: Official UPMSP Website (upmsp.edu.in)
- Go to upmsp.edu.in
- Click on the "Result" or "High School Result 2027" link on the homepage
- Enter your Roll Number as printed on your admit card
- Click Submit — your result appears on screen
- Download or take a screenshot of the result page
Method 2: NIC Result Portal (upresults.nic.in)
- Visit upresults.nic.in
- Select "UP Board High School (Class X) Result 2027"
- Enter your Roll Number and click Submit
- Your subject-wise marks and result status will appear on screen
Method 3: DigiLocker (Official Digital Marksheet)
- Open DigiLocker on your browser or smartphone app
- Log in or sign up using your Aadhaar-linked mobile number
- Go to "Search Documents" and search for "UPMSP High School Marksheet 2027"
- Link your Roll Number to pull your digital marksheet directly
- Download the PDF — this is legally valid for college admissions and scholarship applications
Method 4: SMS
UPMSP usually enables an SMS-based result check alongside the online release. The format and shortcode are announced on result day.
You typically type your roll number in the specified format and send it to the official shortcode — you receive a reply with your pass/fail status and subject-wise marks. Check upmsp.edu.in for the exact SMS format when the result is declared.
Method 5: School Distribution
Your school receives the official, signed original marksheets from the UPMSP Regional Office a week or two after the online result. You collect your physical marksheet directly from your school along with the Transfer Certificate (TC) if you plan to change schools for Class XI.
The original physical marksheet carries the official seal and signature — keep it safe, as it is a lifelong document.
Details Required to Check Result
You need your Roll Number, which is printed on your UPMSP admit card 2027. That is all — no date of birth or password is required on the official result portals.
Validity of DigiLocker Marksheet
The DigiLocker copy of your UP Board marksheet is digitally signed by UPMSP and is legally valid for college admissions, scholarship applications, and government document submissions. Most institutions across India now accept DigiLocker documents.
UP Board Class X Result 2027: Details on Marksheet
Your UP Board High School Marksheet 2027 is the official UPMSP document that records your academic performance for the Class X examination. It is a permanent academic credential — colleges, employers, and government departments will ask for it throughout your career.
Check every detail on it the moment the result is released online.
UP Board Class X Result 2027: Details on the Marksheet
The UPMSP marksheet contains personal details, exam scores, and the final result. Every field on the document is based on the information registered at the time of form submission.
| Detail on Marksheet | Description |
|---|---|
| Student's Full Name | As registered with UPMSP at the time of form submission |
| Father's Name | As per registration records |
| Mother's Name | As per registration records |
| Roll Number | Unique UPMSP-issued number used to fetch and verify results |
| School/Institution Code | UPMSP affiliation code of the school |
| Subject-wise Theory Marks | Marks scored in the written exam (out of 70) |
| Subject-wise Internal Assessment Marks | Marks from school-based practical/project assessment (out of 30) |
| Subject Total (each subject) | Theory + Internal = Total out of 100 |
| Subject-wise Grade | A1 to E2 for each subject based on marks scored |
| Grand Total Marks | Sum of all subject totals |
| Division | First / Second / Third / Failed — based on aggregate percentage |
| Overall Result | Pass / Compartment / Failed |
If there is an error in the name, date of birth, father's name, or subject marks on the online result, report it to the school immediately. The school will raise a correction request with the UPMSP Regional Office on behalf of the student.
Errors corrected early cost less in time and paperwork than corrections sought years later for jobs or higher studies. The physical, signed marksheet is issued to the school by the UPMSP Regional Office, typically within two to three weeks of the online result.
Students need both the online copy for immediate admissions and the original for long-term use. The original cannot be reissued without going through a formal UPMSP duplicate application process, so it should be stored in a dry, safe place.
UP Board Class X Result 2027: Passing Marks
To pass the UP Board Class X 2027 exam, a student must score a minimum of 33 marks out of 100 in every subject. This threshold applies to the combined total of theory marks and internal assessment marks for each subject.
Getting 33% in the overall aggregate is not enough — the student must clear this bar in each individual subject.
| Component | Total Marks | Minimum Marks to Pass |
|---|---|---|
| Theory (Written Exam — External Centre) | 70 | 23 |
| Internal Assessment (School-based) | 30 | 10 |
| Subject Total | 100 | 33 |
- Each subject must be passed individually — a high score in Mathematics cannot make up for failing Science.
- Scoring 32 or below in any subject means the student has failed that subject, even if the total across all subjects is above 33%.
- Students who fail in 1 or 2 subjects are eligible for the compartment exam held in July.
- Students who fail in 3 or more subjects are required to repeat the full Class X exam the following year.
- UPMSP conducts the theory exam at external centres to prevent any advantage; internal assessment marks are submitted by the student's own school.
The 33% threshold is the same across all UPMSP-affiliated schools and applies uniformly to all subjects — languages, sciences, and mathematics alike. There is no subject-specific higher minimum.
If internal assessment marks are strong (say, 28 out of 30), only 5 more marks are needed in theory — but the subject total of 33 must still be cleared.
Can high internal assessment marks help pass even with a low theory score?
Yes, to a degree. Internal assessment and theory marks are added together, and the combined total out of 100 must reach 33.
If a student scores 28 in internal (out of 30) and 5 in theory (out of 70), the total is 33 — just enough to pass. But if theory marks are extremely low, even maximum internal marks may not be enough to reach 33.
What happens if a student fails 3 subjects in UP Board Class X?
If a student fails in 3 or more subjects, they are not eligible for the compartment exam. They will need to re-register and re-appear in the next year's full UP Board Class X examination.
Internal assessment marks for passed subjects may or may not be carried forward — check the official UPMSP notification for the current policy.
UP Board Class X Result 2027: Grading System
UPMSP uses a nine-point grading scale on the marksheet, ranging from A1 (the best) to E2 (failed). Each grade maps to a range of marks out of 100.
Alongside the subject-wise grade, the board also assigns a division — First, Second, or Third — based on the aggregate percentage across all subjects.
Subject-wise Grade Scale
The grade scale applies to each subject separately. The division is calculated from the aggregate percentage of all subjects combined.
UP Board Class X Result 2027: Grading System
UPMSP awards grades to Class X students based on their marks out of 100 in each subject. The grade determines the performance level of the candidate.
| Grade | Marks Range (out of 100) | Performance Level |
|---|---|---|
| A1 | 91–100 | Outstanding |
| A2 | 81–90 | Excellent |
| B1 | 71–80 | Very Good |
| B2 | 61–70 | Good |
| C1 | 51–60 | Average |
| C2 | 41–50 | Satisfactory |
| D | 33–40 | Pass |
| E1 | 21–32 | Failed — Compartment eligible if in 1–2 subjects |
| E2 | Below 21 | Failed |
Division Structure (Based on Aggregate %)
Division is calculated on the aggregate percentage of all subjects. A candidate must pass every subject to be eligible for any division.
| Division | Aggregate Percentage Required |
|---|---|
| First Division | 60% and above |
| Second Division | 45% to 59% |
| Third Division | 33% to 44% |
| Failed | Below 33% aggregate, or failing even one subject regardless of aggregate |
Failing in even one subject places a student in the "Failed" category, even if the aggregate is above 60%. Division is assigned only after passing all subjects.
Class XI schools, especially those with competitive Science stream seats, consider division and aggregate during admission. Aiming for Second or First Division opens more options. Students scoring A1 or A2 across subjects are often recognised at the state level as district or state toppers by UPMSP.
UP Board Class X Result 2027: Pass Percentage Statistics
UPMSP publishes a detailed statistical report with the Class X result, covering gender-wise pass percentages, district-wise performance, and school-wise data. The 2027 figures will be updated here once released. The 2026 statistics are the most recent available.
Gender-wise Pass Percentage — 2026 (Most Recent)
| Category | Pass % (2026) | Pass % (2025) | Pass % (2024) |

| Girls | 93.87% | 93.87% | 93.40% |
| Boys | 86.66% | 86.66% | 86.05% |
District-wise Performance
UPMSP publishes district-wise pass percentages with the results announcement. Districts in eastern UP such as Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Ayodhya have historically shown higher pass rates. Some districts in western and central UP post slightly lower percentages. The 2027 district-wise statistics will be published here once released.
Topper Announcement
UPMSP releases a state-level topper list for Class X along with the result. In 2026, top scorers received recognition at the district and state level. The 2027 toppers list will be published here after result declaration. Top scorers have often achieved 97% and above in the aggregate in recent cycles.
- Girls have outperformed boys in every year from 2022 to 2026 by 5–8 percentage points.
- In 2026, the gap between girls (93.87%) and boys (86.66%) was 7.21 percentage points — the widest in the five-year window shown.
- UPMSP’s overall pass rate has improved from 88.18% (2022) to 90.42% (2026) — a 2.24 pp improvement over five years.
- The 2027 pass percentage will depend on question paper difficulty, evaluation norms, and the number of students who appear.
UP Board Class X Result 2027: Compartment Exam
Students who fail in one or two subjects in the UP Board Class X 2027 main exam do not have to repeat the entire year. UPMSP offers a second chance through the compartment exam, also called the supplementary exam.
The compartment exam is held about two to three months after the main result, typically in July. Clearing the compartment exam means passing Class X without losing an academic year.
UP Board Class X Compartment Exam 2027: Who Can Apply
The UP Board Class X compartment exam is for students who fail in exactly 1 or 2 subjects in the main exam. Students who fail in 3 or more subjects are not eligible and must repeat Class X next year.
| Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Who Can Apply | Students who fail in exactly 1 or 2 subjects in the main Class X exam |
| Students NOT Eligible | Students failing in 3 or more subjects — must repeat Class X next year |
| Expected Compartment Exam Date 2027 | July 2027 (Expected — based on 2026 pattern) |
| Exam Shift (2026 pattern) | Morning shift: 8:30 AM – 11:45 AM |
| Compartment Practical Exam 2027 | Before the written exam — July 2027 (Expected) |
| Compartment Result 2027 | September 2027 (Expected) |
| Registration | Online at upmsp.edu.in after the main result is declared |
Compartment Exam Rules
If you clear the compartment exam, your marksheet is updated and you receive the full Class X pass certificate. The compartment route does not penalise your qualification.
- The compartment result (pass/fail) is final — if you fail the compartment exam too, you need to register as a private student for the next year's Class X exam.
- You appear in the compartment exam only for the subject(s) you failed — your passing subjects are carried forward.
- The compartment practical exam (for subjects like Science) is held a few days before the written exam.
In 2026, the UP Board Class X compartment written exam was held on July 28, with the practical exam on July 16–17. Results were declared in September 2026. The 2027 compartment exam is expected to follow the same window. Exact dates will be published on upmsp.edu.in after the main result.
Compartment vs Failing: What Is the Difference
Compartment means you failed in only 1 or 2 subjects — UPMSP gives you a chance to clear those subjects in the July compartment exam without repeating the year. "Failed" (no compartment) means you failed in 3 or more subjects and must re-register for the entire Class X exam next year. The number of subjects you fail in determines which category you fall into.
UP Board Class X Result 2027: Scrutiny and Revaluation
UPMSP lets you apply for scrutiny of your answer sheet. Scrutiny is a re-check process where officials verify that all your answers were evaluated, all marks were added up correctly, and no section of your paper was accidentally skipped or blotted.
This is not a full revaluation (where a different examiner re-reads and re-marks your answers), but it catches common tallying and totalling errors that do sometimes occur.
| Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Process Available | Scrutiny — re-check of marks totalling and answer completeness |
| Full Revaluation | Not available under UPMSP rules |
| Application Portal | upmsp.edu.in (online form) |
| Expected Window 2027 | May 2027 — a few weeks after result declaration |
| Fee | ₹500 per subject per answer sheet (theory and practical counted separately) |
| Payment Method | Treasury Challan only — at any Government Treasury or authorised SBI branch |
| Scrutiny Result | Usually 2–3 months after application (July 2027, Expected) |
| Outcome | Marks may increase, stay the same, or in rare cases decrease |
How to Apply for Scrutiny — Step-by-Step
- Wait for the scrutiny window to open on upmsp.edu.in (usually within one to two weeks of the main result).
- Click on the scrutiny application link on the UPMSP homepage.
- Enter your Roll Number and Centre Code (both from your admit card).
- Select the subject(s) for which you want scrutiny.
- Fill the online form and note your application reference number.
- Pay ₹500 per subject via Treasury Challan at any Government Treasury or an authorised SBI branch.
- Attach the original Treasury Challan to your printed application form.
- Send the form and challan to your UPMSP Regional Office by registered post within the deadline.
Scrutiny: Important Points
- Apply well before the deadline — late applications are not accepted under any circumstances.
- Once the scrutiny result is declared, it is final — there is no further appeal under UPMSP rules.
- Marks can go up (if a totalling error is found), stay the same, or in rare cases decrease (if marks were over-allocated by mistake).
- If scrutiny of a subject pushes your marks above 33, you will be declared as passed in that subject and your overall result updated accordingly.
What After UP Board Class X Result 2027
Once the result is out, the immediate priority is to choose a path for Class XI — or a vocational/technical course — and apply early, as seats fill quickly.
Class XI Stream Selection
Uttar Pradesh offers three main streams for Class XI (Intermediate). Your choice here shapes the entrance exams and careers you can pursue in the future.
Streams After Class X
After clearing Class X, students choose one of three main streams for Class XI. The choice of stream decides the subjects studied and the career options available later.
| Stream | Key Subjects | Career Paths |
|---|---|---|
| Science | Physics, Chemistry, Math / Biology | Engineering (JEE), Medicine (NEET), Research, IT, Defense |
| Commerce | Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics | CA/CMA, Banking, Finance, MBA, BBA |
| Arts / Humanities | History, Geography, Political Science, Sociology | Civil Services (UPSC/UPPSC), Law (CLAT), Journalism, Education |
Most UPMSP-affiliated schools start Class XI admissions within a few days to weeks of the Class X result. The documents needed are the UP Board Class X marksheet, a Transfer Certificate (TC) from the current school if moving, and a completed admission form for the new school. For students continuing in the same school, the process is simpler — just fill the stream selection form.
Vocational and Technical Courses
Class X pass students can also take up vocational and technical courses instead of regular Class XI. These courses lead to specific job-oriented qualifications.
- ITI (Industrial Training Institute): State-run ITI programmes in trades like Electrician, Fitter, Welder, and Mechanic are open to Class X pass students. ITI admissions in UP happen through the state online portal — apply after the Class X result.
- UP Polytechnic (JEECUP): Class X pass students can appear in the JEECUP entrance exam and secure admission to 3-year Diploma programmes in Engineering and Technology at government and private polytechnics.
- Paramedical Courses: Short-term certificate and diploma programmes (Lab Technician, X-ray Technician, Nursing Assistant) at state medical colleges and private institutes accept Class X qualified students.
- Defence Entrance Exams: Some defence recruitment pathways (like NDA written exam) require candidates to be appearing in or have cleared Class XII — start Class XI Science if this is the goal, so the student is ready in two years.
Scholarship Opportunities
Students from SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and economically weaker general category backgrounds can apply for state and central scholarships after clearing Class X. The UP Scholarship portal at scholarship.up.gov.in opens Pre-Matric and Post-Matric scholarship applications annually.
Apply early — the portal typically opens within a few months of the Class X result. Missing the window means waiting another year.
