Indian Council of Agricultural Research All India Entrance Examination for Admission

Engineering UG Offline
event May 2026

The ICAR All India Entrance Examination for Admission was the national entrance test conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in agriculture and allied sciences at agricultural universities across India. It no longer runs as a separate examination. Admission to the ICAR seat quota in agricultural universities is now made through the Common University Entrance Test conducted by the National Testing Agency, with CUET-UG scores used for bachelor degree programmes and CUET-PG scores for master degree programmes. Students ai

Overview expand_more
Under the current arrangement, candidates choose the CUET subject papers matching the agricultural stream they want, appear in the computer-based test, and are then considered for the ICAR quota seats in state agricultural universities, deemed universities and central agricultural universities that participate in the national allotment. ICAR continues to run the counselling and seat allotment for its quota using the CUET scores, so students must complete both the CUET registration and the separate ICAR counselling registration when it opens. The academic content assessed corresponds to class 12 subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Agriculture for undergraduate entry, and to the relevant discipline for postgraduate entry. Programme lists, participating universities, quota size and the counselling schedule are announced by ICAR each year, and the test schedule itself by the National Testing Agency.
Eligibility expand_more
For undergraduate agricultural programmes, candidates must have passed class 12 or an equivalent examination with the science or agriculture subject combination required by the programme, and must meet the qualifying marks specified in the official notification. For postgraduate programmes, a relevant bachelor degree in agriculture or an allied science from a recognised university is required. Candidates must also satisfy the minimum age condition and any domicile or nativity requirement stated for particular quota seats. Because admission now runs through CUET, candidates must appear in the correct CUET paper for their intended programme. All exact marks, age limits and reservation rules are as published in the official ICAR counselling notification.

ICAR AIEEA 2024 Merit List

ICAR will release a single merit list of qualified candidates on the official website. If candidates get equal marks in the entrance examination, merit will be prepared based on marks obtained in major subjects — Mathematics, Biology, or Agriculture — in the UG entrance exam.

In case of a tie again, merit will be prepared based on the candidate's age. A candidate higher in age would be rated higher in merit. Category-wise rank lists will be prepared based on the reservation category information provided in the online application form.

ICAR AIEEA 2024 Normalisation Process

Candidates who appear for multi-shift papers will have their raw marks from different shifts converted into NTA Score. If the percentile score for multiple shifts is unequal, the lowest percentile will be the eligibility cut-off for that category for all candidates.

Example: In an examination held in two shifts, if 40% marks correspond to a percentile score of 77 in Shift 1 and 78 in Shift 2, then all candidates equal to or above 77 percentiles (percentile score of 100 to 77) in both shifts become eligible in the General Category. A similar method is adopted for other categories to determine eligibility cut-offs. The same principle applies if the examination is held in more shifts.

ICAR AIEEA Counselling will start in the month of June 2024. Eligible candidates will be offered admission in agricultural universities across the country through this process.
