Maharashtra NEET Counselling

Medical UG Offline
event June 2026

Maharashtra NEET counselling is a centralised seat allotment process, not an entrance examination. It is conducted for undergraduate courses by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, along with the Directorate of Medical Education and Research, and it distributes state quota medical, dental and allied seats among candidates who have already qualified in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. There is no separate Maharashtra paper to write. A candidate's NEET score, together with domicile, category and the preferences entered on the state portal, decides the seat. Anyone aiming

Overview expand_more
The process handles the state's share of seats, with the remaining share filled through the national counselling committee. Each round follows a set sequence: online registration on the state portal, payment of the prescribed fees, uploading of documents and verification at a facilitation centre, publication of the provisional and final state merit lists with a window to raise grievances, choice filling and locking, and then seat allotment based on NEET rank, category and the state's reservation rules. Allotted candidates report to the institution, complete admission formalities and pay the fees, and may become eligible for upgradation in a subsequent round under the stated conditions. Institutional and mop-up rounds follow for seats that remain vacant. Courses covered include medicine, dentistry and, through related processes, allied health and nursing streams. The number of rounds, fee structure and cancellation rules are set out in the official information brochure.
Eligibility expand_more
Participation depends on qualifying in NEET at the level required for the course, because the state does not hold its own test. Undergraduate applicants must have passed class 12 with physics, chemistry, biology or biotechnology and English from a recognised board, and postgraduate applicants must hold the recognised medical or dental degree with internship completed as prescribed. Candidates must be Indian nationals and must satisfy the Maharashtra domicile and candidature-type rules to claim a state quota seat, supported by the certificates the notification names. The qualifying percentile, minimum age, category relaxations and the exact candidature categories are defined in the official counselling notification, which should be read carefully before registration since the candidature type determines which seats a candidate can access.
