Telangana State Polytechnic Common Entrance Test

Engineering Diploma Offline
event April 2026

The Telangana State Polytechnic Common Entrance Test, known as TS POLYCET and now notified as TG POLYCET, is a state-level entrance test for admission to diploma courses in polytechnics. It is conducted by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Telangana, and not by the higher education council. It is taken by candidates who have completed class 10, which makes it an entry point immediately after secondary school rather than after class 12. The rank obtained is used in centralised counselling for diploma seats in government, aided and private polytechnics across Telangana in engi

Overview expand_more
The test is an objective paper set on the class 10 syllabus followed in Telangana, covering mathematics, physics and chemistry, with the physics and chemistry portion treated as a single science component. Questions are multiple choice and are pitched at secondary school level, so no polytechnic or intermediate level preparation is assumed. Ranks from the test are used by the technical education board to allot seats in diploma programmes in branches such as civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics and computer engineering, along with the non-engineering diploma courses offered by participating institutions. Seat allotment is done through web-based counselling with certificate verification, and the reservation and special category rules notified by the state government are applied at that stage rather than in the test itself.
Eligibility expand_more
Candidates must have passed or be appearing in the class 10 or equivalent examination from a recognised board, and the examination is intended for candidates who satisfy the local or non-local status conditions defined for admissions in Telangana. Candidates seeking seats under reserved or special categories must hold the certificates prescribed in the notification. The minimum marks required in the qualifying examination, any relaxation available to reserved category candidates, any age condition and the treatment of open school and other equivalent qualifications are stated in the official notification issued each year, and candidates should verify their eligibility against that document before applying.

Is 60 Marks a Good Score in TS POLYCET 2026?

Whether 60 marks is good depends on your objective and category. There are no official rank cut-offs for 2026 yet, so here is a practical guide:

  • For General/OBC: 60 marks is generally a fair score. It may result in admission to many decent private or middle-level government polytechnic colleges, with a rank estimate of roughly 10,000–20,000.
  • For SC/ST and other reserved categories: 60 marks may be extremely competitive due to reservation benefits and can be enough for seats in top colleges.

Your final admission chances depend on your category, district quota, and branch. Check the counselling seat matrices when they are released.
