About
The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program 2026-2027 is a nine-month non-degree program funded by the U.S. Department of State. It is designed for early-career Indian teachers of English or professionals in related fields who wish to teach Hindi and/or Urdu at select U.S. campuses. The program supports participants in refining their teaching skills, improving English language proficiency, and deepening their understanding of U.S. society and culture. FLTAs also engage with host communities through conversation groups and cultural exchange activities.
Eligibility
Open to Indian citizens who are early-career English teachers at the college level or are training to become English teachers. Young professionals in related fields may also apply. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher and demonstrate strong English language proficiency. There are no income or marks-based conditions specified for this program.
How to apply
Applications are submitted online through the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) portal. Candidates must provide academic transcripts, proof of English proficiency, letters of recommendation, and a statement of purpose. Shortlisted applicants may be called for an interview. The official page lists the current application requirements and deadlines.
