About
The ICSSR-Award of Doctoral Fellowships 2004-2005 supports Indian students pursuing doctoral research in social sciences. It is offered by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The fellowship is awarded for research in disciplines such as Economics, Commerce, Education, Management, Psychology, Political Science, and Sociology. A total of 55 fellowships are available, including 40 for the open category and 15 for candidates from the North-East Region.
Eligibility
Open to Indian nationals who have completed a postgraduate degree in social sciences or allied fields. Candidates must be registered for a Ph.D. or equivalent research degree at a recognized Indian university or institution. There are no specific income or mark-based conditions, but preference may be given to candidates from marginalized communities such as SC, ST, OBC, EWS, or PwD. The official page lists additional eligibility criteria.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted in the prescribed format as specified by ICSSR. Candidates should download the application form from the official ICSSR website and fill it with required details, including research proposal and supervisor’s endorsement. The completed application, along with supporting documents, should be sent to the ICSSR office before the deadline mentioned on their portal. No offline submissions are accepted unless specified.
