The NHPC Sports Scholarship Scheme for Upcoming Sports Persons supports Indian athletes who compete in 16 sports disciplines, including football, kabaddi, hockey, boxing, archery, athletics, shooting, cricket, swimming, wrestling, volleyball, bridge, table tennis, chess, badminton, and para sports. The scheme is open to students at all study levels who demonstrate exceptional sporting talent and potential. Applicants must be Indian nationals and active participants in one of the 16 specified sports. The scheme is open to students at all levels—school, college, and university—without a minimum marks requirement. Priority may be given to candidates from economically weaker sections, including SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwD categories. Selection is based on performance in recognized sports events and recommendations from recognized sports bodies.
