About
The Centre for Consumer Studies (CCS) is a government initiative that supports research and training in consumer protection, welfare and market governance for students and professionals at all levels. Established to strengthen India’s efforts in safeguarding consumer rights amid rapid globalization and expanding markets, CCS works under the Government of India to promote fair trade practices, quality standards and public awareness. The Centre designs programmes that help build expertise in consumer policy, dispute resolution and market regulation, aligning academic research with real-world governance needs.
Eligibility
Open to Indian students and professionals at all academic levels—school, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral—seeking to study or research consumer affairs, law, economics, public policy or related fields. Applicants from all social categories are welcome. There are no income or mark thresholds specified; selection is based on academic merit, research proposal quality or institutional need as determined by the CCS selection committee.
How to apply
Visit the official Centre for Consumer Studies page listed by the government for the current application form and instructions. Prepare a clear statement of purpose or research proposal if applying for a programme. Submit required documents—identity proof, academic transcripts, caste certificate (if applicable) and any additional materials—before the date published on the official page. Applications are reviewed by the CCS academic committee, and shortlisted candidates are notified through the contact details provided in the application.
