About
The GDCT Media Fellowship Program supports PhD-level journalists who want to research and report on tribal identity, democracy and development in Jammu and Kashmir. The fellowship is open to entry-level and mid-career journalists committed to understanding the social, cultural and economic realities of the region. Fellows receive time and resources to produce articles or photo-essays that highlight issues faced by less privileged communities, especially the Gujjar community. The program is run by the Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust, a Jammu-based NGO focused on human development.
Eligibility
Applicants must be journalists at entry to mid-career levels with a strong interest in tribal identity, democracy and development in Jammu and Kashmir. There are no strict income or marks criteria, but preference is given to those who can demonstrate sensitivity to marginalized communities. The program is open to Indian citizens without age restrictions.
How to apply
Interested journalists should prepare a proposal outlining their research focus, methodology and expected outcomes. Submit the proposal along with a CV, writing samples and a letter of intent to the Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust. The official page lists the current award amount and any additional documents required. Applications are reviewed by a selection committee, and shortlisted candidates may be called for an interview.
