About
The Berlin Scholarship Program, offered by Reporters Without Borders Germany, is for journalists from war zones and crisis areas who need a four-month break to improve their digital security skills in Berlin. Funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises, the program combines hands-on training in digital security with a peer-to-peer training phase. Participants learn to protect themselves from surveillance and hacker attacks and then design their own training modules to share these skills with colleagues back home.
Eligibility
Open to professional journalists who are currently working in or originally from conflict zones or crisis areas. Applicants must be able to spend four consecutive months in Berlin. There are no formal academic requirements, but applicants should demonstrate a clear need for digital security training and a commitment to passing on the knowledge gained.
How to apply
Submit a completed application form, a current CV, a motivation letter, and two professional references through the online portal listed on the official page. Include a brief description of your current work environment and the digital threats you face. Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview or asked to provide additional documentation.
