About
IBM – The Great Mind Challenge (TGMC) is a scholarship for Indian engineering postgraduate students. TGMC encourages students to build real-world solutions using IBM open-source software. Since its launch in 2004, TGMC has partnered with colleges to strengthen IT education and prepare students for competitive careers. The program is part of IBM’s global Academic Initiative, which supports educators in teaching industry-relevant IT skills.
Eligibility
Open to Indian students enrolled in postgraduate engineering programs at recognized institutions. Colleges must be registered with the IBM Academic Initiative. No income or mark-based criteria are specified. Participation is typically through team-based projects guided by faculty mentors.
How to apply
Students must form teams under a faculty mentor from an IBM Academic Initiative-affiliated college. Teams develop a project using IBM open-source tools and submit it through the official TGMC portal. Selection is based on project innovation, technical execution, and real-world impact. The official page lists the current submission process and evaluation criteria.
