About

The Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program is an international exchange that sends outstanding school teachers from India and other countries to the U.S. for a semester and brings U.S. teachers to India for three to six months. The program is designed to strengthen teaching practices, foster cross-cultural understanding, and build global networks among educators. Participants engage in graduate-level coursework, observe classrooms, and develop leadership projects that benefit their home schools and communities.

Eligibility

Open to full-time school teachers in India with at least five years of teaching experience. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and demonstrate strong English language proficiency. Teachers from government and private schools, including those in rural areas, are encouraged to apply. Preference is given to educators who can contribute to curriculum development or school leadership upon return.

How to apply

Submit an online application through the official Fulbright program portal before the published deadline. Prepare a statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, and a project proposal outlining how you will share your U.S. experience with colleagues in India. Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview or additional documentation. The official page lists the current application checklist and required documents.
