The American-Scandinavian Foundation Awards for Scandinavians supports citizens of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden who wish to study or conduct research in the United States. The program provides financial assistance to graduate-level students, though opportunities may also be available for undergraduate or postgraduate researchers. Awards are granted annually and vary in number and amount depending on the year and available funding. The foundation collaborates with local organizations in each country to facilitate the application process and ensure fair distribution of funds.

Open to citizens of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Applicants must be enrolled in or planning to pursue study or research at a U.S. institution. Graduate students are typically prioritized, but eligibility may extend to undergraduates or postgraduates depending on the year. No specific income or academic performance thresholds are publicly listed; selection is based on merit and the quality of the proposed project.

Contact the appropriate cooperating organization in your home country to obtain application details. Each country has a dedicated foundation that handles submissions: Denmark-America Foundation, League of Finnish-American Societies, Icelandic-American Society, Norway-America Association, or Sweden-America Foundation. Submit the required documents as specified by the local organization, which may include academic transcripts, research proposals, and letters of recommendation. Deadlines and materials vary by country, so refer to the official page or the local foundation’s website for instructions.
