About
The British Chevening Scholarships support outstanding Indian postgraduate students to study at UK universities. Funded largely by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, the programme offers fully-funded awards to future leaders who can demonstrate both academic excellence and leadership potential. Since its inception, Chevening has enabled over 30,000 scholars from around the world to pursue master’s degrees in the UK. The selection process is highly competitive, with only a limited number of awards granted each year. Applicants must show a strong professional track record and the capacity to contribute to their field and society after graduation.
Eligibility
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and have at least two years of work experience. They should be Indian citizens intending to return to India after completing their studies. The scholarship is open to candidates from all academic disciplines. Priority is given to applicants with a proven record of leadership, influence, and professional achievement. There are no minimum marks or income thresholds, but candidates must meet UK university entry requirements.
How to apply
Apply online through the official Chevening application portal. Prepare academic transcripts, two references, and a detailed study plan. Submit a leadership essay and a record of professional achievements. Shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview. The application window closes when the annual intake is full; check the official page for the current cycle’s timeline and required documents.
