Eligibility

The scheme is intended for students who have secured admission to a master's level journalism degree course, and preference is described as going to applicants from economically weaker sections who are studying at government colleges. Applicants are generally expected to be able to evidence their admission, their academic record and their family's financial position through the documents the programme asks for. As the award is merit oriented, shortlisting may also take account of academic performance and of written work or a statement submitted with the application. The detailed conditions, including any income threshold and any restriction by institution or state, are set by the awarding body and should be confirmed on the official portal.

How to apply

Applications are made through the official portal of the scholarship, where the announcement for the running cycle, the application form and the list of required documents are published. Applicants are generally expected to register, complete the form with personal, academic and course details, and upload supporting papers such as proof of admission to a journalism programme, previous marksheets, identity proof and an income certificate. Some cycles also ask for a statement of purpose or samples of the applicant's journalistic work. The form should be submitted before the announced closing date and a copy of the acknowledgement retained, since any interview or verification stage is communicated through the contact details supplied in the application.
