About
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s Humboldt Research Fellowship supports Indian PhD holders who wish to conduct postdoctoral research in Germany for 6 to 12 months. It is open to scholars across all academic disciplines who propose their own research projects and secure a host at a German institution. The fellowship encourages international collaboration and does not require applicants to be German citizens.
Eligibility
Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent degree and be under 40 years of age. There is no citizenship requirement. Humanities scholars need sufficient German proficiency for their research, while science scholars must demonstrate adequate English proficiency. The fellowship is available to researchers in any field.
How to apply
Applicants must first identify and contact a host institution in Germany to confirm their willingness to supervise the research. They then prepare a detailed research proposal, gather required documents such as academic transcripts and language certificates, and submit the application through the Humboldt Foundation’s online portal. Selection is based on academic excellence and the feasibility of the proposed project.
