About
The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) supports higher technical and professional education for dependent wards and widows of police personnel martyred during terror or Naxal attacks in States and Union Territories. Introduced in 2006-07 for Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles personnel, the scheme was extended in 2019-20 to include wards of State/UT police personnel who lost their lives in such attacks. It aims to provide financial assistance to help beneficiaries pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional degree programs.
Eligibility
This scholarship is open to dependent wards and widows of State/UT police personnel who were martyred in terror or Naxal attacks. Applicants must be pursuing recognized technical or professional degree courses at the undergraduate or postgraduate level. There is no income or marks-based eligibility criterion specified for this scheme.
How to apply
Applications are submitted online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Applicants must register, fill in personal and academic details, and upload required documents such as police martyr certificate, educational certificates, and bank details. The application is verified by the respective State/UT police authorities before final approval. No offline applications are accepted.
