About

The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles 2026 supports higher technical and professional education for the dependent wards and widows of personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles (AR). Introduced in 2006-07, the scheme also covers the dependent wards of State/UT police personnel martyred during terror or Naxal attacks since 2019-20. Administered under the National Defence Fund, it aims to empower families of security personnel by enabling access to quality education in professional and technical fields.

Eligibility

Dependent wards and widows of personnel from CAPFs and AR are eligible. For State/UT police personnel, only those martyred during terror or Naxal attacks are covered. Applicants must be pursuing professional or technical courses at recognized institutions in India. There are no specific income or marks criteria mentioned; selection is based on merit and eligibility as per scheme guidelines.

How to apply

Applications are submitted online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Eligible candidates must register, fill in the required details, and upload necessary documents such as identity proof, educational certificates, and a bank account passbook. The application is reviewed and verified by the respective state or union territory government before final approval. Only applications submitted through the NSP portal are considered.
